And now for something entirely different! I had ordered a new kayak on March 11th and it finally arrived yesterday afternoon about 3:30. So after quickly removing the packaging my neighbor and I haeded down to the local river (Buffalo River) for a quick tryout. The water level in the river is still a little to low to make a good trip, but what a joy anyway. The trip we made took about 1.5 hours to do 8 miles. Got stuck a couple of times in really shallow spots but nothing we could not handle as we have done the trip before when the river was even lower. I did almost capsize once when I didn't see a submerged branch in the water. The Kayak hit it just right which almost tipped me over. Anyway here is apicture of my kayak in the back of my pickup truck. |

Sailor:
I like those tulips, they look great; healthy too. Where in TN do you live?. I might be going that way in a few days. I told Elvis I might come visit on my way back from Washington DC. Look on the LL advertising topic my contact info is there.
What kind of camera do you have ? what make ? Digital or Film ?. The flowers look great; really. That's a small boat I'd never fit in it. I'm 6 ft 3 inches tall. |

Shadow-off:
I am about 4 hours East of Elvis in Hohenwald,TN. You would have to go all the way to Nashville and then it is almost 2 hours south from there.
I habe a Nikon D80 Digital SLR camera. But since my zoom lens is for film it has a 1.5 magnification factor. So my 400mm setting is really like having a 450mm lens.
I am 5'10 and fit in my kayak with plenty of room to spare. In fact I can almost lay down in it. It is 10'6" long with 3/4 of that length for the c0ckpit. The real constraint is not a person height, but weight and waist size. It can hold 255 pounds and the c0ckpit width is 18.5 inches. It took me forever to find a small kayak that I could fit into. If I hadn't found this one I would have ended up needing to get a 16 footer which is not that great for paddling in small twisty rivers. Though I do plan on getting a larger one some day so that I can go on camping trips that last about a week. That will probably be next year once I have saved up enough money to buy one. |

| Sailor: Thanks for telling me this. You understand what Macro photography is ? I'm sure you do. Go to the Photoshop and get a Canon or Kenko extension tube set . This goes these go between the lens and the body of the camera. The extemsion tube set comes with a 12mm, 20mm and 36mm extennsions . I put them all on a Phoenix 400mm zoom lens close up photography. The Kenko tube set I have cost me about $45.00 new. You'll need a good tripod when using it though. I have a Canon D-30 with Canon EFS 17-85mm AF lens that I shoot portrait and model photography with. |

Yes I know what macro photogray is. With my old film nikon camera I had a macro lens which I used quite a bit, but when I got my divorce I must have left it with my ex by accident or lost it some other way during my move to Florida.
I currently have 2 lens for my Nikon. 1 Nikon AF 70 - 300 mm that I use for landscape type photos. The other is a Quantary 15 - 50mm AF that I use for portraits. I also have a very good tripod. My understanding is that the mounts for Canon and Nikon lens are different so those extention tubes you mentioned will not work with my camera. Nikon does have a macro lens available but it costs $500. I have been wanting to set up a photo studio in part of my garage that is separte from my home and not used at all in order to do portraits. But as I am sure you know that takes money for lights, backdrops, etc. BTW Elvis had my email at one time. No sure if he still has it or not. If he still it ask him for it if you want.
Here is a picture I took last June while down at the Buffalo River. |

| Well that bird stuck around until around dusk yesterday, despite both my attempts to shoo it away and that of my neighbor. Then first thing this morning at first light it showed up again to start pecking on the glass again and has been at it for hours. DOes anyone know of a way to get the brid to stop this without killing it? That is one thing I could never do. |

I don't beleive in things like that, besides it finally left. I think it was just a lost bird, it seems like a young one. I think it was born this spring inside my cement mixer drum as I found a nest in it the other day. |

I have been doing pretty good. Working hard around here. I had planed to go out and do some Kayaking this weekend, but instead I will be doing some work for my neighbor. The work I am doing for my neighbor will be paying for me to make a trip down to the Florida Keys where I want to do some Kayaking and Photography. |
