My nomination - Kuwait. Mind numbingly dull. No alcohol and full of the same lifeless shopping malls.

Yes, I wish I was elsewhere but I chose to come to Kuwait for work. So I've got to live with it. For how long though I do not know. I posed the question because I've been lucky enough to have visited many countries for business and pleasure, but this one has simply got to be the worst. It's like watching pain dry :-)

I agree, Australia is a very vibrant place and a cool place to live. Taxes are very high however.
So what's your most boring country and why?

Ladine, Kuwait is about as cheerful as a whole in the head! Plenty of cinemas here but most of the films are censored to such an extent that at least 10%-20% of it is cut. Forget live music, dancing and theatre too. As for entertainment in sex - not a chance. And yes, you're right, womens rights here are not good but a lot better than Saudi Arabia. Long live freedom and equality.

In my opinion, it's not the country, but the absence of friends that makes your life boring in this or that place. It doesn't matter how strict are the local rules, is there ban for alcohol or taxes are high. A good company will make life in any country relaxing and delightful. Of course, if the person is positive and able to have fun at all.

for me the most boring country of all that I visited, has been Cambodia ....
But it was my fault!
First, I flew there for business .... that was a complete nonsense ....
Secondly, I have been many times before in South-East Asia and to look at the pagodas - I'm pretty bored .....
To go to the ocean from the Phnom Penh - I was too lazy ....
Moreover, this ocean, I know like my five fingers, and not from the shore ... thickets of mangroves with the mosquitoes are not attracted me .....
I had a desire to fly by my self to the jungle to look at the An-Kharvat (ancient city where 1000 years old .... by the way a film about filming Lara Croft was there ...), but for rent a helicopter wrung such a price that I decided to spit on this idea and forget about it ....
During a 4 days, I went through the city, and the remaining 5 days held in a hotel room under the air conditioner with a book or near Swimming pool .... That's all ... But ...
I liked people there!! They are very good, honest and simple!!...............

Ollga-ukraine you are correct in your statement , but even the most beautiful and wonderful places can be ugly if you are alone there, its the company you keep that makes anyplace more pleasurable.

Short remark: I never go to the countrys, the traditions which I do not share and do not accept ....
I prefer to ignore such a people ...
Even when I'm planning a long trips, I always choose through interesting and prosperous countrys ... .
I do not want to meet unpleasant people .... And in the campaigns around the Africa and a Indian Ocean there is another matter - the pirates .... Unfortunately it is not so romantic as in the old fairy tales and in movies ....

I've had lots of fun even in Germany. But I agree, it's sad when you can't find any food store that would be open after 9 p.m. and on week-ends.

It was a beautiful country, clean, organized, and crowded.
Switzerland, very restrained peoples, only fun when drunk, then agressions come out, not so fun.
Part was the company I was with, 60 days was enough fo me.

A place you decide to visit only becomes boring if the reason you went there does not fill your time when you are. Then
if you had some secondary ideas, they fill in any void. Something I have used occassionally when we discovered, that
we did something faster then what we thought or were told was needed.

Always have some backup plans, and if they are not needed, nothing is lost by not using them .

Agree with Cinty -- Germany is never boring
And who wants some extreme has to visit Sauna or Swingerclub there.
I dont say about discos, parties, night clubs, there are cool already.
Then you can never say that its boring there, people simply having fun in their own ways.
And food normal is to buy few times in a week, not on weekends specially.

Avsallar in Alanya, Turkey - I used to go backpacking there, just a sleeping mat and a pair of work boots was all I needed.
It's hot, it's unusual, very secluded and boring. You can walk about 3 miles to the nearest Migros supermarket and see only a few people and cars passing you by.

I find, that in any country can be interesting if you have it communicate with people who are interested in writing and properly organize their leisure time. You can live in a comfortable hotel, where air-conditioning everywhere and always cool. Or stay in the pool or the sea which is also good. Or, spend their free time to travel on tour. But the main thing is to have a good companion, which never boring. This can be a friend or a girlfriend or a company of familiar people. For me the most important thing is communication, and because I was not bored anywhere. I go back home and tell their friends about their experiences. They always wonder "Where did you find all this? We have not seen it. We were only on picnics with drinks and spent shopping. We have not seen anything and we were bored! That's all!
